MATERIALS
JB Fence Company is the only area fence contractor with their own
lumberyard and milling facilities. We are the only company that mills
it’s own redwood. By doing this we are able to provide higher quality
material on a consistent basis. We don’t have to rely on other
suppliers. When you see one of our fences, you can be assured that the
one we build for you will have the same quality.

JB Fence Company strives to offer a high quality fence and a fair
price. We only use high quality materials from our own lumberyard. We
don’t use inferior materials or pay cheap wages to give you a cheap
fence. If you want a cheap fence call the other guys (or call us and we
can tell you who they are). If you want quality and value, call us!
EMPLOYEES
JB Fence Company employs only dedicated workers who care about their
work. They are trained in the proper construction techniques to build a
quality long lasting fence that will provide you years of enjoyment. We
are socially conscience when it comes to our employees. All of our
workers are paid a living wage. We don’t pay low wages to give you a
cheap fence. All of our employees are provided medical and dental
benefits. We are the only wood fence contractor in area the that
provides benefits to it’s employees.
OWNER BACKGROUND
JB Fence Company was founded in 1990 by John Beckwith who had just
left the corporate world. John, a CPA, is a graduate of California State
University, Chico were he majored in accounting. Prior to founding JB
Fence Company, John worked for several companies including Price
Waterhouse and Safeway, Inc.
QUESTIONS
Is JB Fence Company licensed?
Yes. JB Fence Company is licensed by the State Contractors License
Board (CSLB). Lic. #675223. We have a specialty license (C-13, Fencing.
Our license can be verified at the CSLB website (www.cslb.ca.gov).
We strongly suggest that you check the license status of any contractor
that you deal with as there are a lot of contractors that don’t have a
valid license, use fake numbers or use other peoples license numbers.
This website also shows if the contractor carries worker’s compensation
insurance.
Is JB Fence Company insured?
Yes. JB Fence Company carries worker’s compensation insurance and
liability insurance at all times. If desired we can provide you with
certificates of insurance directly from our brokers verifying our
coverage. Insurance is very expensive and not all contractors have
insurance. An uninsured contractor may not have the resources to pay for
any damage or injuries that may occur. Never contract with an unlicensed
contrator as you may be liable for their actions.
What areas do you work in?
In Alameda County we work in Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, San
Leandro, Castro Valley, Piedmont and Albany. In Contra Costa County we
work in Moraga, Orinda, Lafayette, El Cerrito and Kensington. Sometimes
we expand our service area depending on our workload.
Do you have a minimum job size?
Yes. We have a minimum job size that will vary depending on our
workload. If you don’t meet our minimum we usually can refer you to
someone who does smaller jobs.
What work don’t you do?
We don’t do repair work, chain link, iron or vinyl fencing.
But I don’t know exactly what style I want, can you help me?
Yes, we can. We have a portfolio of fences, arbors and gates that
you can browse through. In addition, we also have a fence display at our
lumberyard which features nine of our most popular fence styles. We can
also work with you to create a fence tailored to you and your lifestyle.
Do you provide references?
Yes. We can provide references in your neighborhood.
Do you only do residential projects?
No. We also provide services to commercial projects as well.
